Metalized Sapphire Windows |
Synthetic Sapphire is a single crystal and high purity, so bare sapphire will not attach to braze or solder alloys on its own. In some applications where sapphire windows needs to be soldered or bonded to metal, so an intermediary thin layers of Chrome, Nickle and Gold around the edge of sapphire windows is required. The metalized edge creates a surface that enable sapphire windows to be brazed into a metal housing. Brazing is the use of melted filler metal to bond two unmelted surfaces. It creates strong bonds between surfaces with small clearances, particularly ideal for sapphire window assemblies applications. When properly done, the joint is hermetic. |
Through solderable metallization on sapphire windows, HYT Sapphire Optics creates hermetically sealed optics which are ideal for medical and industrial applications. |
Besides the standard metalized solution of Cr/Ni/Au, HYT Sapphire Optics also offers different metallization solutions to meet your hermetic soldering applications, such as Cr/Ni/Au and Cr/Pt/Au. |
HYT Sapphire Optics in-house facility have the capability of providing anti-reflection coating service for metalized Sapphire windows to improve the transmittance. |
